[Solo show //1 – 31 October, 2026//Curated by Samuel Toro Contreras//Galería NAC// Santiago]In one of NAC’s windows, outside light is filtered into red, green and blue (RGB) according to the position of the sun, an exercise Gonzalo Reyes Araos has repeated in different parts of the world. This exercise extends ARITHMOS both inside and outside the gallery space. Inside are a series of paintings made from thousands of paper squares, painted one by one, which together form the subpixel grid found behind a monitor when it is taken apart, an “anatomy” that normally no one sees. Some squares have been deliberately released by the artist, leaving those gaps in plain view, an “amputation” of pixels that in a monitor would produce a glitch we would never see as a graphic interface. This creates a subtle plastic composition that dialogues with the digits.

August 28th – October 3rd]Historically, the horizon has been the line that guarantees orientation: the point of reference that enabled us to locate ourselves in space, distinguish the sky from the earth. Yet in the contemporary era—marked by the proliferation of screens, temporal acceleration, and the radical transformation of our environment—this horizon has become fundamentally unstable.
The Unstable Horizon brings together the practices of Charlotte Bastian and Gonzalo Reyes Araos in a dialogue exploring precisely this condition: how technology, perception, and human interventions have redefined our capacities to understand and inhabit space.

The exhibition begins with a deceptively simple question: What do we understand by landscape?
Who constructs a landscape? What transforms it? And how are territories shaped not only physically, but through the ways in which they have historically been observed, classified, mapped, named and organized?
Through four distinct artistic practices, Miradas a Chile proposes an imaginary journey across Chile. Rather than attempting to represent the country through a single image or geographical narrative, the exhibition approaches landscape as a cultural construction shaped by memory, distance, personal experience, technological mediation and historical ways of seeing.
From Berlin, Chile becomes something that can be revisited, questioned and reassembled.

[Group show//June 14th – July 4th, 2026//LAGE EGAL + Loods 12//Wetteren, Belgium]Echoing the famous song by The Rolling Stones, the off-site group exhibition GIMME SHELTER III resonates with the selection of works presented by LAGE EGAL (trans. location doesn’t matter), a nomadic gallery based between Berlin and Brussels.

Vincent de Roder’s invitation for this third edition extends the gallery’s fluid identity: a practice of displacement, relocation and the circulation of works rooted in the dynamics of contemporary art.

The selected works display their colours and abandon figuration to surrender to their own visual languages, inviting the viewer to enter the artists’ unique worlds. TOM FRÜCHTL’s raw gradients bleed into one another as if colour itself were under pressure; FRANZISKA REINBOTHE’s distorted frames warp the familiar until recognition gives way to unease; ASTRID KÖPPE’s strange metallic compositions hold light hostage in surfaces that feel both ancient and alien; GONZALO REYES-ARAOS’s deliberately “glitchy” visions short-circuit the image, exposing the fractures beneath; and VINCENT DE RODER’s silent bands and blocks accumulate with a quiet precision that makes the void feel densely inhabited. Together they form a body of work permeated by the tension of an angry world, where everything seems within striking distance — It’s just a shot away, it’s just a shot away. On the verge of collapse.

In one, the body insists — it leaves a mark, it resists erasure. In the other, presence flows through signals and networks, translated and displaced. The title strikes like an action: it asserts presence as a collision with reality. Each work becomes the residue of that impact — a way of holding onto existence in a world that endlessly dissolves appearances.

[Public lecture // June 18th, 2025 // University of Bonn, Germany ] An exchange between galerie PLUTO and the TRA Individuals, Institutions and Societies at the Science Festival resulted in a unique dialogue between PLUTO resident artist Gonzalo Reyes Araos and our University’s researchers, titled “The Poetics of Machine Learning.” The research-based creative exchange will culminate in a public lecture with a presentation by Gonzalo Reyes Araos and five researchers of the University of Bonn. Works by Reyes Araos and corresponding research questions will be presented in the discussion.

[Group show//29th November 2024 – //4th January 2025//rosalux project space//Berlin, Germany ]RECLAIM REALITY is a group exhibition and a prospective get-together, following on from the first Salon Kuiperdomingos Projects, held at the same venue in 2011. Back then, 52 artists covered the walls of the art space to celebrate the idea of the network. The upcoming edition will bring together more than 70 artists from Berlin, Amsterdam and beyond, to promote the building of new realities based on artistic visions and the importance of meeting and exhibiting art in the flesh. [Residency program//July – August 2024//galerie PLUTO// Bonn, Germany]galerie PLUTO is pleased to welcome Gonzalo Reyes Araos for a summer 2024 residency. Time spent in research and development will allow Araos to create a new project, I remember correctly you are you and the rest is history posing a central question: “Is the reality we perceive a form of pareidolia?” Seeing shapes in cloud patterns is an example of pareidolia. The phenomenon is the human ability to find meaning in an ambiguous stimulus. This perceptual ability allows one to imagine an object or pattern where there is none.

These forces may not be directly related to current needs but constantly influence our reality and permeate our thinking.
